How program assessment is implemented and evaluated:

Let’s take Course-Exit Survey as an example…

Without EvalTools®With EvalTools®
  • Copy, distribute, paper surveys to faculty
  • Faculty create their own portion of the survey for course objective tracking
  • Faculty distribute both/combined to the class
  • Students complete surveys
  • Faculty collect surveys and send to Chair office
  • Chair/Secretary compiles the surveys for analysis!!!
  • Faculty also submit Excel report for tracking objective vs. program criteria to Chair
  • Chair/Secretary compiles curriculum matrix for comparative view and analysis
  • Faculty complete paper FCAR
  • Chair/Secretary collect FCAR from faculty
  • General meeting to evaluate compiled data and identify action items
  • Admin creates survey
  • Faculty enter course objectives and criteria mapping
  • Students complete surveys
  • Faculty complete FCAR
  • Program assessment and analysis:
    • Curriculum Outcomes Matrix – comparative view
    • Action item matrix – for “closing the loop”
    • Longitudinal analysis for program improvement
  • Other surveys: Senior Exit, Alumni survey
Other issues…
  • Chair has no easy means to evaluate program’s strength in a longitudinal manner
  • Chair/secretary needs to deploy other surveys: Senior Exit, Alumni survey
  • Chair/secretary needs to compile other survey data for analysis and to generate action items
Among other assessment items: class portfolio and its analysis
